J. Lucino and Canon
As is well known, more than five years have passed since the Canon system was established. In building the platform called Star Wars, the settings of many works are integrated without contradiction. In the past, the settings were developed by writers and creators for each work, and the situation was not integrated as a whole. It can be said that Filoni took this as a lesson.
First of all, the movie version of Clone Wars was released. With this "legitimate official" work, Lucasfilm will oversee and consolidate SW-related works. It strengthened the authority of the "legitimate formula". Lucasfilm reconstructs the settings and stories devised by many writers and creators. By setting officially adopted standards, it will be a certain guideline for creating works.
The second, Lucasfilm Story Group, will be launched. This few elite people will take the lead exclusively. Under their leadership, Clone Wars was released as an anime series for a long time. The long term will make the recruitment criteria clearer. Since the story group is a small number of elite, it is much more efficiently integrated and refined overall than it is distributed by a large number of people. It is the beginning of canon.
With the release of the third, Force Awakening, we will begin full-scale production of the live-action movie version. Clone Wars demonstrates the functionality of the story group and further enhances its authority. The live-action theatrical version is produced as a powerful skeleton, from which derivative works are developed without contradiction. As Filoni expected, it became a "legitimate official".
And with the release of Rogue One, we boldly put a scalpel between the complicated Death Star development history, that is, Prequel and the original. Under the leadership of the authoritative story group, holistic and comprehensive work is now possible. All works unify and refine the setting and story. It will be highly complete and clear.
The fourth, Disney Plus distribution will start.
As the maturity of the platform increases, we will easily deliver live-action works. By actually producing a number of images (such as Boba Fett in Sallac) that every fan wants, the detailed elements of the entire platform will be complemented and the degree of perfection will be further enhanced.
Given this background, Lucino's work unfortunately did not meet Canon's standards.
He had an attempt to oversee multiple works in Legends' work. However, as a writer outside of Lucasfilm, he cannot exercise "legitimate official" authority.
Lucasfilm's work was very satisfying to the reader with its detailed story, but it may have had some inconveniences in building the platform that Lucasfilm launched.
At the time of Rogue One's release, Lucino wrote "Catalyst," but unlike his previous Lucino work, he lacked originality. It seems that he couldn't stand the system of having a horizontal spear in the story group from the writing stage.
I'd like to hope for Lucino's return, but as Canon continues as a platform, I may have to put up with it.
