T-70 X-wing air-to-ground capabilities
The Resistance's main fighter, the T-70, is a significant evolution from Incom's T-65.
Mobility, cruising range, hyperdrive, shield, and onboard weapons have all been improved in a well-balanced manner. It has gained tremendous trust from Resistance pilots and has proven to be highly survivable. This is an advantage when carefully operating a small number of pilots and aircraft.
At the same time, high air-to-ground capability was added for the first time to the X-Wing.
The addition of air-to-ground capabilities to the X-Wing, which has traditionally focused on air-to-air capabilities, will expand the range of military options for the Resistance.
Although it is a fighter jet, it can destroy targets on the ground with pinpoint precision. Instead of attacking a large area like a bomber, you can attack the target quickly, accurately, and dexterously.
In addition to supporting allies on the ground, pinpoint attacks are highly cost-effective. It is cheaper to use fewer weapons than to destroy a large area in one area. You can neutralize important enemy targets with just one shot.
Rebel pilots who flew T-65s argue that adding air-to-ground capabilities will change operations. By incorporating the X-Wing into ground operations, the hurdles for air support can be significantly lowered.
In the past, air support was not an easy option as it required a large amount of effort from planning to execution. Pinpoint attacks are difficult and cost-effective.
Meanwhile, at the same time as the T-70 was introduced, an excellent model of the First Order's Tie Fighter was also introduced. Its survivability has been significantly increased since the Empire (addition of shield), and its mobility has improved significantly. We have moved away from the idea of disposable items. Air support is also available here, and you can slowly turn at low altitude.
Resistance member Poe Dameron, who piloted Tie from the Finalizer, is shocked. Afterwards, he deftly attacks the stormtroopers while trying to avoid accidentally detonating Han and Finn with Takodana.
What I'm curious about is the fact that R2, which belonged to Anakin Skywalker, will be aboard the T-70. Just imagining R2 operating the T-70 with all the know-how inherited from Anakin makes me happy. In fact, on Exegol, R2 boards with Poe. While reducing Poe's burden, he also demonstrated his excellent maneuvering techniques.
