Many buildings in the galactic society are round.
When creating the galactic society, Lucas was conscious of overturning the audience's preconceptions. Far-away civilizations are full of mysteries beyond imagination and have formed unique cultures. They are unrealistic, yet have a reality that makes them seem as if they really exist. Worn dirt, unique sounds, and technology that has been carefully crafted down to the smallest detail.
Personally, I like the architecture.
When you think of preconceptions that the audience has, you probably imagine rectangular buildings. Buildings and apartment buildings, for example. Lucas completely overturns that. They are round.
It is a novel attempt that is impossible in the common sense of architecture. How do they maintain strength? What about the placement of columns and stairs? It must be difficult to build.
The ancient Egyptians built elaborate regular square pyramids, but apparently in Lucas's mind, they were round.
Buildings that meet Lucas's standards are unrealistic, yet have a reality that makes them seem as if they really exist. A typical example is the Senate Rotunda.
Despite its size, it remains incredibly strong, even though there is no support in the middle.
The air conditioning inside and the mechanically regulated temperature are depicted beautifully.
Another thing to note is that VR technology has played a major role in depicting these round structures in recent years. Images are projected onto a large, curved screen that surrounds the actor. This makes it easy for the actors to imagine what they are doing, making it easier to act.
Because it is curved, the structures depicted have a round structure, such as Luthenrayel's antique shop and the ISB conference room.
It's just as Lucas had hoped. New technology expands the scope of creativity.
It's a common occurrence in a galaxy far, far away.
